I am an NFT artist, living between pixels and code. It wasn’t until I met her that I realized that the most beautiful artworks in the world are not the works hanging in digital galleries, but the warm moments hidden in the details of life.
I first met her at the Web3 Art Exhibition in early 2024. I was debugging my new work, an interactive installation that incorporates generative AI. The audience can enter any text, and the AI will transform it into dynamic abstract art, while casting it into a unique NFT on the blockchain.
She was wearing a minimalist white dress and stood in front of the installation thoughtfully. I walked over to give a routine explanation: “Do you want to try it? Just enter a paragraph that means something to you.”
She turned her head, her eyes as clear as morning dew: “Can you enter the code?”
This question stunned me. It was the first time someone asked me this at an exhibition full of artists. She told me that she was a smart contract auditor and often helped the project party check code vulnerabilities. “I think code is also a poetic expression,” she said, “each function is like a little poem.”
She typed a piece of Solidity code into the input box. It was a simple permanent lock function that ensured that certain data would never be changed. The AI started working, and each line of code turned into flowing colors. The final work was a deep starry sky with a blue flame burning forever in the middle.
“This may be the most special one I have ever created,” I said sincerely, “Do you want to name it?”
She smiled: “Let’s call it ‘Eternal Promise’.”
After that day, we started a wonderful conversation. She taught me to understand the elegance of smart contracts, and I took her to explore the infinite possibilities of digital art. We would discuss the boundaries of blockchain technology late at night, or argue whether Picasso or Satoshi Nakamoto had a greater influence on modern art.
She liked to sit beside me and write code while I was working. I secretly sketched her focused look and hid it in my work. Sometimes there would be dozens of such small details in an NFT, like love letters scattered on the blockchain.
Once, she reviewed a major vulnerability in a large project and helped the project avoid millions of dollars in losses. That night, I used AI tools to recreate the entire incident into an animated short film, depicting the code loopholes as naughty elves, and she as the Valkyrie guarding the digital world.
“You drew me too exaggeratedly,” she said with a blushing face, “I just did what I should do.”
“In my eyes, you are cooler than any superhero,” I said, “You use code to protect other people’s property and dreams.”
Last Christmas, we both gave our own “works”. I created a special NFT series for her, using 365 paintings to record every day we were together. And she wrote a unique smart contract that can automatically generate different artistic effects based on our interactions.
“In this way, our love will be recorded forever on the blockchain,” she said mischievously, “more reliable than any marriage contract.”
Now, there are two tables in our studio. One is equipped with her multi-screen monitors, scrolling various codes all the time; the other is equipped with my digital tablet, ready to capture inspiration at any time. Sometimes she cheers for finding a clever loophole, and I dance for creating a satisfying work.
Recently, we started a new project. Transform her code audit report into a work of art, and show the security beauty of blockchain in a visual way. She said this might change people’s stereotypes about code, and I think this is the best footnote to our love.
Yesterday, she asked me if I regretted choosing the unpopular NFT art path. I told her: “If it weren’t for this choice, I might not have met you. In this world, someone can truly understand your madness, which is more precious than any success.”
She put a sticky note on my monitor with a line of code:
solidity
Copy
require(msg.sender == love, “You are my only validator”);
I smiled and drew a little love heart below, and then saved this scene forever on the blockchain.
In this digital world, some people say that we are too idealistic, but we believe that the combination of technology and art can create real value. And love is to find the soul that understands you between countless 1s and 0s.
She is my most amazing creative inspiration, and I am a touch of color in her code world. On this blockchain leading to the future, we are jointly writing our own smart contract, an eternal promise signed with love.
